Originaire de Marioupol, en Ukraine, Ihor Mostovoi est un baryton lyrique au timbre riche et expressif, reconnu pour sa large palette vocale et sa présence scénique.

Depuis 2023, il est membre de l’Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris, où il s’est produit sur la scène du Palais Garnier dans les rôles de Frank Maurrant (Street Scene de Weill) et du Fauteuil (L’Enfant et les sortilèges de Ravel). Il a récemment été sélectionné pour le programme d’échange avec le Metropolitan Opera, se produisant à New York. Il a également chanté à Venise, au Palazzetto Bru Zane, dans un concert en hommage à Fauré et ses élèves.

Parmi ses projets pour la saison 2025–2026 figurent Don Profondo dans Il viaggio a Reims de Rossini au Wexford Festival, Aïda déchaînée à l’Opéra Grand Avignon, Adam dans Ève de Massenet au Festival de Musique de Saint-Venceslas en République tchèque, ainsi que la partie de basse soliste dans la Grande Messe en ut mineur de Mozart avec l’Opéra de Tours.

Ihor a débuté son parcours artistique dans le théâtre et la chanson populaire avant de se tourner vers la musique classique. Il a étudié à la Schulich School of Music de l’Université McGill à Montréal, où il a obtenu un baccalauréat et une maîtrise en chant et opéra. Pendant ses études, il a interprété notamment Achilla (Giulio Cesare), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Thésée (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Falke (Die Fledermaus) et Nano dans la création canadienne de Volpone de John Musto.

Après ses études, il a intégré l’Opéra Studio de l’Opéra national du Rhin à Strasbourg, où il a chanté Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Masetto (Don Giovanni) et Sindbad dans l’opéra éponyme de Howard Moody. Sa carrière scénique s’est ensuite étendue à l’Opéra national de Lyon (Le Roi Carotte), au Théâtre du Châtelet (Saül), à l’Opéra de Bordeaux, ainsi qu’à Singapour avec The Opera People, où il a interprété Tarquinius dans The Rape of Lucretia et Leporello dans Don Giovanni.

Actuellement Artiste Émergent au sein d’Opera for Peace, Ihor s’engage pour le dialogue culturel, la solidarité et la collaboration artistique à l’échelle internationale. En 2023, le compositeur Evan Mack lui a dédié le cycle de mélodies Letters from the Frontline, inspiré des poèmes du soldat-poète ukrainien Pavlo Vyshebaba. La création mondiale a eu lieu à la Salle Bourgie de Montréal.
Lauréat du Premier Prix au Concours International de Chant de Marmande en 2021, Ihor a également reçu le Metropolitan Opera National Council Encouragement Award en 2015, ainsi que le soutien de la Richard Wagner Stipendienstiftung et de la Fondation de France.

Originally from Mariupol, Ukraine, Ihor Mostovoi is a lyric baritone with a wide-ranging repertoire celebrated for his rich, expressive timbre and charismatic stage presence.
He has been member of the Académie de l’Opéra National de Paris since 2023, performing in main stage productions as Frank Maurrant in Weill’s Street Scene and Le Fauteuil in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges at the Palais Garnier. He was recently chosen for their exchange program with the Metropolitan Opera, performing in New York. He has also performed in Venice at the Palazzetto Bru Zane, celebrating the legacy of Fauré and his students.

Upcoming engagements in the 2025–2026 season include Don Profondo in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at Wexford Festival, Aïda déchaînée with Opéra Grand Avignon, Adam in Massenet’s Eve at the Wenceslas Music Festival in the Czech Republic, and the bass soloist in Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor with Opéra de Tours.

Ihor began his artistic journey in theatre and popular song before discovering classical music. He trained at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montréal, where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in voice and opera. During his studies, he performed roles including Achilla (Giulio Cesare), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Theseus (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Falke (Die Fledermaus), and Nano in the Canadian premiere of John Musto’s Volpone.

Following graduation, he joined the Opéra Studio of the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, performing Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Masetto (Don Giovanni), and Sindbad in Howard Moody’s Sindbad. His stage career has since expanded to include
appearances with the Opéra National de Lyon (Le Roi Carotte), Théâtre du Châtelet (Saül), Opéra de Bordeaux, and The Opera People in Singapore, where he portrayed Tarquinius in The Rape of Lucretia and Leporello in Don Giovanni.

Ihor is currently an Emerging Artist with Opera for Peace, promoting cultural dialogue, solidarity and global artistic collaboration. In this capacity, composer Evan Mack wrote Letters from the Frontline specifically for him in 2023 —a powerful song cycle set to the poetry of Ukrainian soldier-poet Pavlo Vyshebaba. The world premiere took place at Salle Bourgie in Montréal.
First Prize winner at the Concours International de Chant de Marmande (2021), Ihor was also awarded the Metropolitan Opera National Council Encouragement Award in 2015, and has received support from the Richard Wagner Stipendienstiftung and the Fondation de France.
