Le baryton-basse Georg Festl est membre de l’ensemble du Théâtre National de Darmstadt (Allemagne) depuis la saison 2016-2017. Parmi les nombreux rôles interprétés, citons Figaro dans Les Noces de Figaro de W.A. Mozart, Frank dans La Chauve- Souris de J. Strauss, Pietro dans Simon Boccanegra de G. Verdi, Papageno et le Sprecher dans La Flûte Enchantée, Tom dans Le Bal masqué de Verdi, Don Fernando dans Fidelio…

La saison 2018- 2019 est une année marquante dans sa jeune carrière. Il chante en effet le rôle-titre dans l’opéra d’Olivier Messiaen Saint François d’Assise. Le magazine Opernwelt parle alors de lui comme l’un des barytons allemands les plus prometteurs de sa génération. Cette même saison, il chante également Golaud dans Pelléas et Mélisande au Staatstheater de Karlsruhe ainsi qu’à l’Opéra de Freiburg et un Veilleur de nuit dans Les Maîtres chanteurs de Nuremberg à Wiesbaden.

Récemment, il est Schaunard dans La Bohème à Darmstadt, Le Polizeikommissar dans Lulu à la Monnaie / De Munt, Heerrufer dans Lohengrin, Leporello dans Don Giovanni, Papageno dans La Flûte enchantée, l’Athlète dans Lulu, le rôle-titre dans The Prison d’Ethel Smyth au Staatstheater Darmstadt.

Cette saison, Der Oberkellner dans Amerika de R. Haubenstock-Ramati au Staatsoper de Zürich, Leporello dans Don Giovanni au Finnish National Opera and ballet d’Helsinki, Orest dans Elektra et Dulcamara dans l‘Elisir d’amore au Staatstheater Darmstadt.
